Hey everybody,

Good to be back with you and I hope everyone has a terrific holiday season!

Ms. Foster has written another winner. I enjoy all her books but I am especially fond of the romantic suspense she has been writing in her last few series. Miles Dartman, the Legend in his MMA days, and Maxi, a great character, had a short-lived tryst a while back. Then Maxi disappears. Miles is not real happy about that, but such is life.

Maxi has had a lot of stuff happen lately. Most notably, she lost her grandma and inherited her grandma’s property and all the feral cats that went with it. Her siblings assumed she would sell it and they would get their part. Nope. She decides to keep it. However, someone is not happy about this decision. Maxi wakes up in Chapter 1 lying in the gravel and without any memories on how she got there. Interesting things are happening. She arrives at the Body Armor agency Miles works at asking for help. Sparks start flying.

The relationship between Miles and Maxi is great. Maxi really is a great character–a little quirky at times but I think she is fun even with her problems currently. Miles is determined to protect her and figure out who is trying to run her off her property. There are plenty of suspects to keep it interesting and I also really enjoyed seeing the other bodyguards from the agency (and the series) show up help. This is a story well-worth reading as are all of Ms. Foster’s books. There is a reason she is my favorite author. I can not wait for the next book featuring Brand and Sahara. There are questions to be answered in that book!!

Happy reading,

Debra

Fated Fortunes by Angela Colsin

Hey everyone,

Good to be back again with you sharing another book I have enjoyed.  First, the blurb:

Dalris Dra’Kai has served as the Terran head of his Draconian House for many long years, assigning jobs, collecting payments, and conducting family affairs. It’s a responsibility he takes seriously, though lately he’s longed for something more fulfilling than organizing business matters—and a good start would be finding his eternal mate.

But eight lonely centuries hasn’t offered much hope, and it isn’t until an unexpected encounter with a mysterious figure from his recent past that Dalris learns his mate isn’t what she seems. Furthermore? She’s on a treasure hunt of her own, but the prize she seeks isn’t riches or esteem … .

Jada Tavar has dedicated her life to finishing her grandfather’s work, and the elven antiquarian wasn’t searching for just any mundane treasure. Instead, he sought the true fate of the lost House of Rinora, a dangerous quest that inevitably cost his life. So the last thing Jada needs is a centuries-old draconian recognizing her as his mate, specifically when elves are forbidden from mating with their kind.

But Dalris is seductively persistent, and she finds the draconian more than just a little intriguing. His wicked promises and passionate kisses are impossible to ignore, and the closer they get, the more Jada wants him in her life. Yet the conclusion of her quest may reveal a truth that would condemn their fated connection for all time.

My Thoughts:  I loved this story. Fated Fortunes is Book 7 of The Crucible series by Angela Colsin. I have really enjoyed each book in this series and Fated Fortunes is no exception. Jada is an elf on a quest to finish her grandfather’s work. Dal’ris is a draconian of the Dra’Kai line of the Great Dragons. They met briefly 30 years ago while Jada was working on her quest and outsmarted Dal’ris. He has never forgotten that. They meet again when Jada ends up needing his help and start working together on this quest and realize they are mates. Just one problem–elves and draconians cannot mate. Problems ensue on multiple fronts.

This story was fun and engaging with enough action and battles thrown in to really make it a good story. We see a few favorite characters from prior books appear in this one also and that is always fun. My favorite character from prior books is Isaac–Dal’ris may be pulling ahead in that category. I enjoyed the banter between Dal’ris and Jada and the surprises in plot at the end made me happy! If you haven’t read the Crucible series yet, give it a try.

Happy Reading,

Worth the Wait by Lori Foster

Hey everybody,

The Blurb:  Single dad Hogan Guthrie is getting his life back on track, and working as the “barbecue master” at a local diner is just a temporary detour. He and restaurant owner Violet Shaw constantly butt heads…until one night they end up mingling other parts instead. Hogan thought he had the recipe for happiness all figured out. But loyal, carefree Violet is daring him to trust his impulses…and see just how sweet small-town living—and loving—can be. Nathan Hawley traded his SWAT team credentials for a sheriff’s badge, but a gorgeous new neighbor is shaking up his orderly life. Nathan has a hunch there’s more to Brooklin Sweet than meets the eye—but given her caution about getting involved, he has his work cut out for him. Still, there’s something about the elusive beauty Nathan can’t walk away from—and helping her come to terms with her past might pave the way to the future they both secretly long for.

My thoughts:  Okay, this book was aptly named. It was worth the wait. This book tells the story of Hogan and Violet. Violet is a great character and she has some really hot chemistry with Hogan. They worked together to make changes to the restaurant Violet runs and Hogan works at part-time as a BBQ master. Their banter is fun and some of the ideas (will not spoil them for you) are alot of fun! Hogan is a single dad and an accountant. He is a great dad to his teenage son and there are issues with his accounting boss that must be worked out.

This book also tells the story of Nathan and Brooklyn. Don’t think that their tale is just a side story. Ms. Foster did a wonderful job of fleshing out their story and romance. It is not merely a sub-plot. She truly gives us a story with two couples whose tales are well-defined. As always, Ms. Foster’s dialogue is believable and well-written and her characters entertaining.

Cold Sight by Leslie A. Kelly

Hey everybody,

The Blurb: Aidan McConnell once used his special psychic abilities to help find the missing. But after the media made him the scapegoat for a child’s death, he retreated from the world and became a recluse. Lexie Nolan is a small-town reporter with big vision. She was the first to connect a series of disappearances among teenage girls to a serial killer…but nobody will listen to her. Lexie is in desperate need of help from the sexy psychic who’s an expert in finding people. And even though Aidan loathes the media, he can’t help being drawn in to the passionate, beautiful reporter. Nor can he resist helping her on this particular case. Because he knows the latest missing girl. And he knows time to save her is running out.

My thoughts:  I really enjoyed this book. I believe it is the first book I have read by this author and I have just finished book 3 of this series (review coming). The suspense is well-written as is the romance, but the romance takes a little bit of a back seat to the suspense story, which I am fine with. The suspense tale was very interesting and the romance is more “tell than show”, which can be quite refreshing instead of intimate scenes every few pages (although I don’t mind those either)! LOL

Another thing I really enjoyed was the interaction between the ESP detectives. They are very supportive of each other and their abilities and I look forward to sharing my thoughts on those books as well.

Happy Reading,

Debra
